I’m at a really high-stress point in my life right now. I do a pretty substantial amount of volunteer work. I run a small business in a demanding industry, and I am running for city council. Keeping my workouts consistent has given me an outlet for my stress, and has improved my mental health so much. It’s funny because you always hear people suggest working out as a helpful way to improve sleep, mental health, etc. I just sort of wrote that off, but it’s totally true! Beyond the mental, it’s made a lot of impact physically. Weight loss has never been my main goal. My flexibility and strength have improved so much. I can sit on the floor without my legs falling asleep. My resting heart rate has gone way down. I feel more capable and like I’m prioritizing myself.
